thrifty thursdays...

oh yes indeedy!
it has been a while has it not, since i did a 'thrifty thursdays' ramble.
indeed it would be quite true to say
it has been a while since i went to the thrift store,
a whole six days...
i think that shows great willpower on my behalf.

of course now the 'great show of willpower' thought has popped into my head this morning,
i can think of nothing else than leaving the shed
and heading to the thrift store.
i've actually started
twitching,
rubbing my hands
and
pulling my hair.
i am now relying upon every ounce left of my 'willpower' reserves
to stay rooted in the shed.

so let us not dwell on the thought of what lovely finds could be waiting for me
but instead focus on my last adventure to the thrift store.
it was a perfectly perfect thrifty adventure
full of fabby forsaken finds...
if you asked my man he would tell you otherwise,
but we are not going to ask him
for we do not want to spoil our 'thrifty thursdays' post
with 'bah humbuggers' of the thrifty kind.

as i entered the thriftstore
with $15 in my hand
i found many a forsaken little soul looking for a happy home

a nest of russian dolls
who obviously have something bothering them
but they haven't told me what

always a favorite find for me

a pair of sprightly salt and pepper pots
who have seen many sights in their lifetime

a little wooden monkey looking for a new nose
(and of course we know had a very long journey to find it)

a red tin bowl, just like one i already own
but it would have been insanity to leave it behind

a pretty summer straw basket,
rather battered in a perfect vintagey way
as soon as i saw it, i went off into my imagination,
thinking of the lovely summery thoughts that come from owning such a straw bag.

upon leaving the thrift store that evening,
i pondered a thought...
indeed it was quite true to say
i was now $15 poorer than an hour before
and yet
without a doubt
i now felt so much richer than an hour ago.
i'm thinking i am probably not alone with that thought...

Love your new colours (type) - I loved the old ones too,but I think the type is easier to read, and looks great on the white background -

The new header is really gorgeous!

Fiddling for the better!

Oh the straw bag! If I weren't already sitting, I would plop right down on this chair, hand to my chest. I'm going right now to empty my change jar and be off on a hunt to find one like it. Well, maybe Saturday, but I'm going.

I am so happy to have discovered your delightfully pleasing blog! I love your ways with "things" and words. Little monkey with a broken nose is charming to the utmost! The pictures illustrating it are perfectly perfect! So happy you found him and gave him such a sweet new nose. Have a beautiful day!

Yes, definitely noticed a change! ;-)

Your Russian dolls do look rather troubled don't they?

We have noticed your "fiddling ways". Your blog is always pretty, but the change is fun. I was surprised when the page loaded, and the first thing I saw was a new "dottie angel" header, decked out in red and so pretty and bright! Well done, Tif! I like it a lot!! :)

Love your thrifty thursday! May have to join in with my own too. Trouble I have is finding somewhere for all my lovely finds to live, there's just not enough space in my little house.
BTW did you know Jill at lunevintage.blogspot.com does thrifty thursday too?

It's a good thing hunting treasures.

I've eight little S & P people who gaze at us from the top of a doorway. They're happy I think unlike your concerned Russian ladies.

Love your red cardi outfit.

great finds. My mother had my kids this week and I snuck out to some antique/thrift stores. I understand the "thrill" of it!

What pretty things! I always like looking at other people's finds, but I'm also glad I didn't go to a thrift store and end up buying lots of "maybe I can do this ..." buys!

liking the product of your fiddling. Been fiddling myself a bit lately. Enjoy your new finds xx

I am jealous of the bag, it's just what I'm looking for, to carry my summer things about. I love the new banner, too. I will be recommending some good bloggy reads on my blog soon, and yours will definitely be one of them.

Beautiful! I love that wall paper!

There is something deeply satisfying about re-homing such gems - it makes you wonder why someone, somewhere fell out of love with them. Although I think I can understand in the case of the Russian dolls - I'm not sure I could stand up to the scrutiny of their disapproving looks!

I LOVE your Thrifty Thursdays! I am drooling over those nesting dolls!

I am also itching to see that green Boeing desk... :)

Those are the angriest nesting dolls ever! Having grown up with nesting dolls in the homes of the Russian part of my family, I'm sad to say I only encountered happy ones until now. They're awesome.
