"do a little dance"...(courtesy of my friend, Debbie)

i did not intend to set out to do this post today...i promise you i intended to do 'Top Tips' but that will have to wait until tomorrow (big sigh of relief all round i think). you see dear readers, a landmark has been passed that i feel i cannot ignore...

i do not like the number 39, it is an ugly number that you will hear a lot more about in the next few months, but let us put that aside for today, less it cast it's dark shadow upon our celebration... i do however, like the number 100. it just looks right, it is even, neat and pretty. it feels like an achievement and that is why i am happy to announce that today my little shop, amidst the turmoil of my technical problems crashing all around me (another thing i will not loiter on) YES, my little shop made it to 100 sales! ("why that's just crazy talk, Tif" i hear you say). "i know" and what's more i reached it in 4 months (another nice number).

so i will do a little dance, i will let it go to my head for one crazy day and yes, dear readers i will launch a competition...

that's right! Tif, in all her excitement (and frustration with her computer) went crazy with her thought process and came up with

DOTTIE ANGEL'S '100 SALES' COMPETITION...

it's my way of saying a large "THANK YOU" whether you are a customer, a reader or a listener, this number would not be mine without you...
so, let's start the ball rolling....(feeling the excitement building) oohh and (hearing the drum rolls). this competition is open to anyone who feels not only would they like to name my new 'love at first sight' door but also they would like to own a dottie angel prototype 'Nellie Summer Garden Cuff"...here are a few pictures of 'said' cuff...just to get you in the mood

you can take a close up look here. now when i say prototype, that is exactly what it is. it comes hot off the press this afternoon. i believe the design will need 'tweaking' but it's pretty, it's vintagey and it's one of a kind...

all you need to do then is come up with a name for my door...now you might want to put on your thinking caps here, as we are not talking about any old door...i name all things that do and don't move in my house...please be kind and think of a name that suits her looks...then leave me the 'name' (and obviously your name) and i will place them all in a jar and then our #4 will draw out the lucky winner. (keep it clean, as he's a good reader!). the competition is open from today until Thursday 21st June. the winner will be announced on Friday 22nd...i can now hear lots of clapping and shouts of excitement around the globe...

of course, there is a huge possibility that no one enters, if so i guess i get to keep my little cuff and wear it all summer long...

doing a fabulous job at avoidance this week ~ Tif
as a little foot note ~ if you don't want to leave your name on my blog but would like to enter the competition, just email me at the address on my sidebar...

K not just leaving a comment to win something but I really love your new door, and I have to say my name for it would be "ophelia's display"...no particular reason or deep thought went into that, just came to me when you first showed the final product. Maybe it's cause your slip dresses are so ethereal...maybe that was the inspiration...hmm?! :)

I have TWO name choices, and since no where in the fine print was there ANYTHING about only entering once, I expect I will have two chances to win the lovely!

Name #1 - Huxley
Name #2 - Josephina (or 'H'osephina if you're latin)

p.s congratulations tif, that's wonderful, you're a very talented lady.

That door is definitely a Myrtle! I knew here name as soon as I saw her sporting her smalls!

Gigibird said...

OK your door is naturally female; she's seen a bit of action in her past, although her reputation is still in tact:)She's making up for that now in her second flush of life by becoming a foil to all Dottie Angels creative out pouring, her rock - Dorothy Hudson.

xoldvyHi, do you know i have a coulpe of slip dresses one black and baby pink satin the other black and turquiose satin, i had stopped wearing them and put them away for a while well done you for reminding me, not sure they are quite right for the occassion, they are not quite as sophisticated as yours, i see yours perfect for a garden party, theatre, wedding, pub lunch or even just tripping down to tar-jet, mine however are slightly more suited to a night out at the local burlesque or my old haunt Madam Jo-Jo's in Soho (London) in fact Dita Von Tesse would probably swoon at them for donning whilst a spot of gardening, but i am not sure the delicate souls of Royal Lemington Spa are quite ready for such titliation, i have visions of lots of false teeth being chocked upon... tut tut tut speak again Stephne X and as for the door how about Miss D....or maybe Ms.D it of course all depends on her experience but she looks like she has been around the block a few time and knows whats what...but with the addition of those wings she could be Miss Divine...

i have no idea why, but when i read the bit on your blog about naming the door, the first thing that sprang to mind was.......betty!

I think a good name would be Portia pronounced more like the porsha and incorporating the french word for door. Your work reminds me of vintage marie claire idees magazines that used to cover my floors.

Congratulations on your 100 sales!! That is a wonderful milestone and so well deserved. I be the next 100 will go even faster for you. I do love the door and feel compelled to name her Beatrice Rose - I am not sure why - it is just what she is whispering I think. The colour is beautiful and just reminds me of antique faded china roses.

The cuff too is just beautiful!! So detailed and summery.

Congrats on your sales - that's wonderful! I'll put some thought into a name - not very good in that department but your new door is beautiful ;)

Tif,
I thought that the door is a female as well and how she would love getting dressed up all the time now!
I put a spin on Gabriel (angel) and went with Gabbie.

She seems to like Tessa too.

Why is it that names suddenly just pop into our heads? My first thought was "Carolina Blue" But I have no idea why. I don't think the door is even blue is it? Oh well, just toss my name into the pile if you don't mind!

And I hope it isn't cheating to have a few:

Eliza D
Sylvia
Ethel
Lily

It's funny how a door can be so evicative and have it's own personality :)

Of course it would have to be Doreen!

Oh my... I forgot to say a HUGE congratulations on your 100th sale. I was going to mail you a few days ago to tell you when you hit 100 we should have a party. Woo hoo!

ladies, you are cheering my day...all these names are fabulous (excluding Stanley!! Francesca have you been drinking for breakfast)and as Sweet Pea and Hear Me Roar noted, there is no rule about how many times you enter, so if another name pops into your head, be my guest to add it to the jar...

Found your blog through Hope, whom I found just recently, too, in class. Thought I heard your door calling herself Tattadoor or Tattadur (maybe for tatty but durable)?

Lori said...

I like Lola. In fact, I hope to have a daughter someday to be named Lola. I think your door should be named Lola because I have the classiest old grandmother named Lola. And... as classy as she is, her slip hem is always hanging out the bottom of her dress. So, it seems only appropriate because of your slips hanging on the door lola, and granny's slips hanging out of her sweet skirts. Whaddayathink?

My submission is in homage of a very well known slip wearer.
"Maggie the cat" A fitting name for a door that will be wearing alot of slips.

Love your slips! Michlle Bass

you dont know me at all....but i guess i am one of those silent but harmless stalkers....of your blog and your gorgeous flickr. i love the cuff of course, everything from your hands is a dream....not to win ....but i had to comment on the door....as i have been whispered....and the name is ZuZu as in ZuZu Petals (from It's a Wonderful Life)....Paula

I don’t know how wide spread this saying is, but I can remember being told on several occasions by different people over many years ‘Your Uncle Charlie is dead’ when my slip was showing – seriously I am not making this up, so if your door turns out to be a man, perhaps he should be called Uncle Charlie?

I've only just found your blog in the last week, but added you to my favorites right away! Congratulations on the 100 sales, that is such a great achievement!
I've used this name before, but I think your door, which I love, by the way, should be named after my barred rock chickens. They are all four named Ruby. It works for them and I think it suits the door as well.

i'm so happy for you tif! there isn't one thing i've seen yet that i wouldn't buy from your store!

Congrats on your 100th sale! I have a ways to go before I make it there. :) Thanks for adding me to your links. I just love your blog (and pretty slips).

I think your door needs an old fashion name that suits her age. Maybe Geniva, or Pennelope?

Such a lovely addition to your beautiful bedroom...the door is called Dooreen. Dooreen is just the best backdrop to your exquisite creations. She just waits paitiently for the next decoration...

Brunhilde
,Odins Valkrie daughter of Norse mythology, with her wings and sturdy build,I immediately thought of Wagners 'flight of the Valkrie"
